Do you know how we get Dark circles? Dark circles are common in both men and women and it occurs because of- oversleep, staying up for too late. Not having proper sleep can make your skin dull and pale as a result makes your under eye tissue dark. The most common cause of dark circles are lack of sleep and genetics. Dark circles can also appear because of allergies, excessive alcohol consumption and ageing. 

Main causes of Dark circles:-

● Dehydration 

● Allergies 

● Eye strain


For many people, dark circles are short term and can be treated easily. There are a good number of treatments to solve this issue:- 

1.Take proper sleep: 

Taking proper sleep can help you get rid of Dark circles. A person should take seven to eight hours of sleep to prevent dark circles from appearing. 

2.Tea bags

Cold tea bags is, one of the effective solutions for dark circles. Tea has caffeine and antioxidants which help in good blood circulation. You can soak a tea bag in warm water for 4-5 minutes, then refrigerate it for 15-20 minutes and apply for 10 minutes. It really works. 

3.Cucumber juice: 

Cucumber juice can lighten the dark circles naturally. 

4.Ice-cube: 

Ice cube reduces the swelling under eye area and also helps in blood circulation which eliminates the puffiness as well as dark circles. 

5.Almond oil+Vitamin E: 

The Mixture of almond oil and Vitamin E can help you get rid of Dark circles. It is suggested to apply the mixture before bedtime, keep it overnight and wash in morning. 

6.Coconut oil: 

Coconut oil is one of the effective methods to lighten the dark circles. 

7. Kojic Acid: 

Kojic Acid is a natural product which can make the dark circles disappear. 

8. Makeup: 

Eye Makeup cannot reduce the dark circles but can hide them really well. You may use a concealer matching your skin tone for hiding them. 

9. Exercise: 

Regular exercise helps the blood flow to transform dull and pale skin into bright and beautiful skin. Exercise/meditation also calms down the mind and reduces stress (stress causes under eye area to get dark). 

10. Under eye gel: 

Applying under eye gel before going to bed can really help you from getting those Dark circles. The gel makes your under eye area light day by day, if used regularly. 

11. Aloevera: 

Natural aloevera gel is an effective product and can be used as moisturizer. It has anti-inflammatory properties which helps in making the skin lighter. 

12. Potato 🥔: 

Potato has natural bleaching properties that lightens the under eye skin and puffiness around your eyes. 

13. Rose water: 

If you have sensitive skin, rose water is great for you. You can apply the mixture of rose water and whole milk soaked in cotton pads for around 20 minutes a day. 

14. Vitamin C: 

Consuming food which is rich in iron and Vitamin C improves your haemoglobin and reduces dark circles. You can add- iron-fortified cereals, eggs, dry fruits, tomatoes, melon and spinach in your diet. 

Some precautions you can take to avoid dark circles: 

● Avoid rubbing eyes 

● Don't use strong eye products 

● Use natural products 

● Moisturise under eye area 

● Use sunglasses while under sun, it will protect your skin from harmful UV rays 

● Drink plenty of water 

● Eat fruits and vitamin c/iron rich food
